About Me

Hi, I’m Sam.

I’m a mom, a wife, a chronic over thinker, and someone who somehow found her way back to art.

It all started with a simple drawing of a home.

I wasn’t trying to start a business. I wasn’t trying to become an artist. I just wanted to make something. That little drawing turned into another one, and then another. Before I knew it, I was spending my free time drawing homes and realizing just how much I loved creating again.

I had forgotten how good it felt to make something just because I wanted to.

Since then, art has taken me in a lot of different directions. Colored pencil, watercolor, acrylic, little paintings, bigger paintings, and probably more experiments than I can count. Some things turn out exactly how I imagined them. Some absolutely do not. There have been plenty of paintings I’ve wanted to throw away before I finally figured them out.

But I keep coming back to it.

A lot of my pieces are inspired by the things I find myself noticing. The way light sits on the water or how the sun sparkles on the snow. A house that reminds someone of where they grew up. Sometimes it’s letting my intuition take over and see where the paint takes me.

I’m drawn to the ordinary things that don’t always feel important in the moment, but somehow become the things we remember.

That’s probably why so much of my work comes back to time, memory, home, and the little moments that are easy to overlook.

I love color. A lot. And I like letting it do some of the talking.

I’m still figuring out what this whole art thing is supposed to look like for me. I’m still learning. I’m still experimenting. I’m still getting frustrated and starting over.

But I’m making art.

And for me, that’s a pretty big deal.

So, welcome to Sam in Full Color.

I’m really glad you’re here.
